Located seven miles southwest of Colorado Springs, Fountain-Ft. Carson
School District #8 encompasses the City of Fountain, Fort Carson, Rock
Creek and nearby rural areas. The district offers innovative educational
opportunities for all students. Early childhood education, special
education, gifted and talented services and technological education
supplement the regular education curriculum. District # 8 supports strong
relationships with the University of Colorado, Pikes Peak Community
College, and Fort Carson.
District enrollment exceeds 4,800 students representing families from all
fifty states and from other countries. Our multicultural population is
enriched with full-time students in the curricular areas of visual art,
instrumental and vocal music, physical education and counseling and
guidance services for preschool through twelfth grades. Children in
preschool through fifth grade attend the district's six elementary schools,
grades six through eight are housed in two middle schools and grades nine
through twelve make up the high school. An Alternative High School serves
students between the ages of fifteen and twenty-one years.
District #8 proudly offers preschool and Headstart programs for three and four year old children. Child care services for infants and school-age
children from the ages of six weeks to twelve years are available to students, staff and the community of Fountain and Fort Carson.
The communities of Fountain Valley and Fort Carson and the students and staff of District #8 benefit from the district sports complex. This unique
facility features a football stadium, all weather track, baseball field,
soccer fields, tennis courts, a lighted softball field and an indoor
swimming pool. A new high school will open on this site in the fall of
1999.
