BOUNDARIES: Located 45 miles east of Colorado Springs on Highway 94, encompassing the town of Rush.

THIS SCHOOL YEAR: Because of the positive response, the district will continue a four-day school week schedule.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: Aug. 20

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS:

Sept. 23 - Parent-teacher conferences, all students off.

Nov. 25 - Monday classes because of Thanksgiving break.

Nov. 27-29 - Thanksgiving break

Dec. 24-Jan. 3 - Winter break

Jan. 6 - Staff development day, all students off.

Feb. 3 - Parent-teacher conferences, all students off.

March 25-28 - Spring break

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: May 29

APPROVED CLASS SIZE: Approximately 20-25 students per class.

FOREIGN-LANGUAGE SPEAKERS: Services are provided. Contact Ellen Wadman, English as a Second Language coordinator for the Pikes Peak Board of Cooperative Educational Services, at 478-2186.

CHOICE PROCESS: There is only one school at Miami-Yoder School District, so in-district choice is not an option. The district is open to out-of-district students on a space-available basis. For information, contact Marsha Brewer, school secretary, at 478-2186.

TRANSPORTATION POLICY: Busing is provided to students living within the district. For information, call 478-2186.

SPECIAL-NEEDS STUDENTS: Parents of students with special emotional, mental or physical needs should contact the school secretary at 478-2186.

BREAKFAST/LUNCH PROGRAM: Lunch prices are $1.15 for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth and $1.25 for middle and high school students. Breakfast for elementary students is free. Families who meet certain income guidelines may qualify for free and reduced-price lunches. Application forms are available at the school office. DAY CARE: The district will open a day care Sept. 3. For information on registration, please call Tami Harding at 478-2186.

REGISTRATION: Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school office. Students should bring immunization records and a birth certificate with them at the time of registration. For information, contact the school secretary at 478-2186.
