Colorado Springs Area School District Information
Lewis-Palmer School District #38
The Lewis-Palmer School District is situated at the north end of El Paso
County, north of the Air Force Academy. The district encompasses Palmer
Lake, Monument, Woodmoor, and the northern part of Black Forest area.
There are four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.
The student population of approximately 3,800 students generates a
student/teacher ration of 24:1. In addition to the core curriculum, all
district schools offer special education programs and enhanced educational
opportunities for students. Approximately 80 percent of the high school
graduates attend universities and colleges after having completed at least
23 credits for high school graduation. Twenty-two credits are required for
a general diploma. The district provides bus transportation and a hot
lunch program for its students.
School sponsored athletics at the middle school and high school level
include most of the major sports activities. In addition, the fine arts
programs at each level provide an enriched curriculum for all. Each school
has many enrichment activities that take place before and after school to
provide stimulating experiences for district students. In addition, the
Lewis-Palmer Charter Academy opened in September, 1996, for grades K-8.
Information regarding this charter school may be obtained by contacting the
school at (719) 481-1950.
