Colorado Springs Area School District Information
Manitou Springs School District #14
Located west of Colorado Springs, this district includes Manitou Springs,
Chipita Park, Green Mountain Falls, Cascade, Crystal Park and Cedar
Heights. The district operates two elementary schools enrolling 625
students, a grades 6-8 middle school for 350 students and a 450 student high school. The total enrollment for the district is 1,375 students. The smaller
of the two elementary schools, located in Chipita Park offers a continuum structure curriculum with all classes above grade one operating
as combined classrooms. Manitou Springs High School operates on a Block
Schedule. Elementary class sizes average 22.3 students. Grade K-2 class
sizes average 17.8 students per teacher. Classes are also offered for
gifted and talented students in grades 1-8 and the high school Enhanced
Program offers special learning opportunities for gifted and talented
students in grades 9-12. Comprehensive services for handicapped students
are available through the Pikes Peak Board of Cooperative Educational
Services.
District #14 operates an active extracurricular and enrichment program for
students. At the elementary level, after-school enrichment programming is
offered throughout the year, including swimming at Manitou Springs
Municipal Pool. The Summer Performing Arts Academy also offers an
extensive drama experience for interested students at all levels. At the
middle school and high school, interscholastic sports are offered for both
boys and girls, as well as a strong vocal and instrumental program. As the
smallest of the school districts of the Pikes Peak Region, District #14
offers a sense of intimacy and family among students and staff and has
a strong community support for its programs, both academic and extracurricular.
